Rajinikanth gets 24cr as advance for Rana!

Rajinikanth's upcoming Tamil movie Rana might have been temporarily shelved, but it has not stopped the movie from being in the news. The latest speculation, which is doing rounds in Kollywood, is that the superstar received Rs. 24 crores as a first instalment of his remuneration.

The Endhiran, who is the second highest paid actor in South Asia after Jackie Chan, has also major shares in the film, as the movie is co-produced by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth. The movie is said to be made with a budget of Rs. 100 crores and the actor is reportedly getting Rs. 40 crores alone as a remuneration other than a share in the profit, says a report.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth, who left India to Singapore for further treatment is recovering well. His son-in-law has recently said that the actor would return to India in a few weeks. However, the project might delay for another six months, as the doctors have advised him to be in bed rest.

No kiss for Vijay-Ileana

Shankar had earlier said that he would not change Nanban script to the large extent. He hinted that he would make minor modifications to suit the taste of the Tamil audience. The fans were eagerly waiting to know whether the director would shoot a lip-lock scene between the lead stars or not, as 3 Idiots had a kissing scene in the climax. Speculations are rife that he has decided not to have a kissing scene between Vijay and Ileana D'Cruz.

Grapevine has it that Vijay will not kiss Ileana inNanban. In 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor shared a passionate lip-lock. But the director will reportedly not shoot a smooching scene. It could pave the way for a controversy, as the Tamil audience are not used to such scenes. So, theEndhiran director has decided to do away with it, says a source. He might shoot a close-up shot, which would look like a lip-to-lip scene, concludes a source.

Meanwhile, Nanban unit is busy filming a song in Chennai. The makers are planning to wrap-up the movie by August. The movie, which also features Jeeva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Anuya, Lawrence Raghavendra, SJ Surya in the cast, is expected to hit the screens during Diwali.

Vijay set to start Pagalavan

After going through a lean path in 2009-10, Vijay became very selective while approving his projects. He signed a few films of which Kaavalan was released earlier this year and did decent business at the box-office. His other projects Velayudham has almost completed the shooting and Nanban is in the third schedule of its filming. In the meantime, he has decided to start his long-pending movie Pagalavan.

Vijay signed Pagalavan a year ago but the project did not take-off on time, as director Seeman was detained for his anti Sri Lankan statement. The movie was put on hold after the actor started his other approved films. Now that the Sivakasi star has finished the shooting of Velayudham, he has given the green signal for the filmmaker to go ahead with the project.

Meanwhile, Seeman has roped in Hansika Motwani, who has paired up Vijay in Velayudham and Bhavana to play the female lead roles in Pagalavan. The movie will hit the floors soon.

Ajith's Billa 2 to take-off on June 20

Ajith Kumar's prestigious Billa prequel is finally ready to take-off. If reports are to be believed, the movie will hit the floors on June 20.

Billa 2, under the direction of Chakri Toleti, will start its shooting in Hyderabad. The director has rewritten the script after Vishuvardhan, who directed the first instalment of the film and has opted out of the project. The story is about David's journey from an ordinary man to a don.

Delhi-based model Huma Qureshi will pair up Ajith Kumar in Billa 2. Bruna Abdullah is playing the second lead role in the film and Prabhu, Rahman, Krishnakumar are also in the cast. Suresh Balaje and George Pius are jointly producing the film.

Among the other technical cast, Yuvan Shankar Raja has been roped in to score the music and Hemant Chaturvedi is the director of photography.

Simbu sweats out at gym

Silambarasan has given two back-to-back hits in the form of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Vaanam. The success of the films has given him more responsibility to deliver his best in his next, as the audience will have huge expectations from his upcoming Tamil movie Osthi – The Cool Cop. So, the actor has now has hit the gym to tone his body for his character in the film.

Simbu has confirmed that he is working hard to chisel his physique. He claims that he has not been to gym after he entered the film industry. The actor is undergoing rigorous training with a specialist fitness instructor, who has planned him a tailor-made program to gain weight and give him a muscled look.

The actor plays the role of a tough and corrupted cop in Osthi, which is a remake of Bollywood blockbusterDabangg. Richa Gangopadhyay is pairing him in the Tamil version, which is directed by Dharani and has Thaman's music. Mohan Apparao and T Ramesh are jointly producing the film

Vidya Balan too busy with Dirty Pictures

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is too busy with her upcoming film, Dirty Pictures, so much so that she has cut off from her friend circle completely. She has apparently stayed away from her Blackberry Messenger so that she could concentrate on the film.

It is said that Vidya Balan has deleted BBM, an instant messaging service, as she thinks constant messaging has been distracting her from preparing for her role, which is rather challenging. She was left with no option but to do away with it in order to concentrate on her role.

Vidya plays the role of Silk Smitha in Dirty Picturesproduced by Ekta Kapoor. Her bust line has been reportedly increased with the help of prosthetics to suit her character.

The Aadukalam star said, “Rajinikanth is recovering well. He is doing fine and responding well to the treatment. Doctors have found out the root cause of his trouble. It is something that can be reversed.”

The actor further added, they are hoping for Rajinikanth's return to India in a week or 10 days. If he does not come by then, it means that the superstar is on a holiday. Dhanush also clarified the rumours pertaining to Endhiran star's kidney transplant by saying that “It’s a joke”.

Dhanush has gone back to Singapore again. He tweeted, “A fresh morning. A fresh day. Back 2 Singapore. All is well. God bless.”

Asin to miss Ready's International premier?

While the film Ready is ready for a grand premier in Dubai, the leading actress of the film Asin might not be able to join Salman Khan for the celebration. Asin, who was looking forward for the International premier of this most awaited flick, says that her passport is still stuck in the process.

Asin says that though the premier is all set to rock, she has still not lost her hope to attend it. She confirms that even if she gets her passport at the very last moment she will fly to Dubai to accompany Salman for the grand premier.

Ready is a romantic comedy flick, which is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film of the same name. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee. It stars Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Mahesh Manjrekar apart from Salman and Asin. The film will also see Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Kangana Ranaut, Zarine Khan and Arbaaz Khan in their cameo appearances.

Salman plays the role of a bindas rich guy in the film Ready, who runs away from responsibilities. Asin plays a girl who is surrounded by her greedy uncles. Both Asin and Salman fall in love with each other and finally plan to teach her uncles a lesson.

MANKATHA AJITH DIALOGUE RELEASED:

MANKATHA AJITH DIALOGUE RELEASED:

Vedi vachu Odaikka naan onnum MALA illa da.

Tamil naatoda THALA da....

Send to all Thala and Thalapathy fans...

I'm still No.1: Ramya

It seems that Sandalwood's self-proclaimed No. 1 actress Ramya has taken the item-number route to success. However, it doesn't seem to have gone down very well with her fans.

The actress, who has shaken a leg for the song Don't Know You Know I'm Very Sexy in the upcoming Vijay-starrer Johnny Mera Naam, is seen sporting midriff-baring outfits in the song. However, Ramya denies that the track is an item number. "It's a situational song that's ultra-glam. The song is shot well and is not vulgar. Besides, I'm the heroine of the film. So how I can be part of an item number?" she asks.

According to the actress, the song is very different from her previous films. "I've put a lot of effort into the film, especially for the songs. I went on a strict diet to look slim. There's another song sequence that has been shot under water. It's a romantic number and is something I've never attempted before," she says.

There is also much speculation about whether Ramya is actually doing the Yogi-starrer Siddlingu as she has accepted and rejected the project a number of times. "Initially, I accepted the film, but I had date problems, which is why I refused it later. But the director came back to me with reworked dialogues. Yogi also expressed his desire to work with me. I did not want to disappoint them and I've decided to accommodate my dates for the movie," she reveals.

After a string of flops, the actress is happy that Sanju Weds Geetha is doing well at the box office. "I've been in the industry for nine years, but I remain Sandalwood's number one actress. Even newcomers say they want to become a heroine like me, and that makes me very happy," says Ramya. And it seems that her claims of being the ruling heroine of Kannada cinema are justified — she is reportedly the highest paid actress in the industry as she gets `32 lakh per film. "I don't need to mention the figure. But I was told that I get paid the most. Also, I don't go around asking what other heroines are getting. But I deserve this money for my
popularity," she says.

Anuya's hiding a secret

Actress Anuya, who made heads turn with her impressive performances in Madurai Sabavamand Siva Manasulla Sakthi, is back in the news again.

The pretty lass, it seems, is now busy shuttling between Mumbai and Chennai. Says Anuya, who is doing an important role in Shankar's Nanben, the Tamil remake of 3 idiots, "I play the role of Ileana's sister in the film and the film's climax revolves around my character in the film. I've been shooting for my portions in the film and shooting is scheduled to go on until August this year."

However, the young actress refuses to divulge details of the role that she has done in Naan, a film through which music director Vijay Antony hopes to make his debut as hero in Kollywood. Says she, "I'm afraid I can't disclose details of my role in Naan. That's because then, I would have to disclose the plot of the film which I don't want to!"

I'm not working with Kamal: Shriya Saran

As a policy, Shriya Saran talks about a new film only after she's signed on the dotted line. Naturally, it irks her when rumours of her being paired with a different actor surface every other day. "At the moment, I am supposed to be in talks to star with Kamal Hassan and Karthi, but none of that is true. Everyone just keeps speculating.

I'd love to work with both these actors, but I haven't signed any project opposite either of these men. Reports of me having had a script narration with director Selvaraghan for Viswaroopam are ridiculous. I've not yet seen the script," says Shriya, who was in the city recently to fulfil her ambassador duties for the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).

The actress, who is busy with her Tamil film Rowthiram with Jiiva, has just wound up Deepa Mehta's adaptation of Midnight's Children, titled Winds of Change. And while she maintains that she has an important role in the film, she has signed a no-disclosure bond. "I'm not allowed to speak about the project until Deepa gives me the go ahead. But yes, I had a blast working with her and the rest of the cast," says Shriya. Winds of Change also stars Soha Ali Khan, Shabana Azmi and Rahul Bose, among others. But while Shriya is unwilling to divulge just how much screen space she actually got with the rest of the cast, she does admit to having met all of them. "I met the entire cast of the film as we had extensive workshops before shooting actually began," is all she adds.

Meanwhile, her film with Jiiva, she says, is shaping up well. "We've been having a lot of fun on the set. The film's being shot at some exotic locations. I have to shoot for the film for another two days and then it's a wrap," says Shriya.

After Rowthiram, the only other film keeping her busy is the much-delayed Malayalam film Casanova. Ask her about the delay and Shriya rolls her eyes in disbelief. "I have no clue why it's getting delayed like this. We are hoping to finish it soon, though," she signs off.

Salman Khan in trouble again

The actor may have unwittingly bought land which legally cannot be bought or sold as it belongs to the entire village.

On Thursday, more than 250 villagers gathered at the talathi's office in Panvel, protesting what they say is an illegal sale of their land to a political leader and actor Salman Khan.

The actor, who is embroiled in two other court cases, may be looking at a protracted legal battle again, because according to the rule book, buying or selling of land which belongs to any village is a cognisable offence.

The sleepy Vaje village near Panvel, home to 307 families, is putting up a spirited fight for 83 acres of surplus land they were given by the government to be tilled.

The Panch along with the villagers were joint custodians of this land till it was sold off to Congress leader Harbhans Singh and Salman. Villagers allege they were conned into parting with their land by the Panch, who convinced them that the alternative to selling was allowing the government to confiscate the land.

"The government gave the land to poor farmers for cultivation. Sometime back our Panch told us that government was planning to take the land back and in order to meet the expenses of putting up a fight, we need to sell a part of the land.

Recently we found out that 2.5 acres of the land had been sold to actor Salman Khan without even seeking any clearance from us, which is mandatory. Nobody knows where the money went," said Vishnu Patil, a resident of the village.

The villagers allege that the remaining 81 acres was also sold off unscrupulously. "The Panch gave us the same story and we agreed assuming that it was in our interest. We were conned into signing documents.

It was much later that we found out that the land was being sold to a political bigwig for profit," said Ganesh Patil, another resident, adding, "Though we did get some money from the second sale, we are all against letting outsiders grab it. We want all our land back."

The resolute villagers have filed complaints with Collector of Raigadh district who in turn has ordered an inquiry into the transactions. The inquiry is based on a circular dated January 2009 issued by the Raigadh District Collector, which says this about the vast tracts of lands owned by villages: "Since names of all the villagers cannot be put on the land records only names of Panch are put on them.

However, it has come to our notice that Panch or their kins sell off such land claiming to be theirs. These vast stretches of land are for the benefit for of public at large and not property of handful of people."

It further states, "It has been found that not only such sales have taken place but local Talathis and Circle Officers have given clearances to such sales. In some cases even the names of new owners have been added to land records.

This is a cognisable offence. In future no such sale or purchases should be allowed and would be considered as offences and action would be taken."

The panch however claims to be ignorant of the existence of any such rule. Bhagwan Patil, a member of the Panch, said, "We had no clue this circular. We are uneducated villagers. The officials who registered the names of new owners should have at least warned us. If we are being held responsible for this, so should they."

Patil also maintained that the decision to sell the land was taken in order to meet the expenses incurred during taking care of government formalities. "Every penny from both the sales was accounted for," he added.

The 7/12 land extract bearing Salman Khan's name
The Collector's office confirmed that an inquiry has been ordered. "Land belonging to the entire village cannot be sold or bought. In this case the villagers allege that they were conned by the Panch. Now we are hearing out the villagers, next we will question the Panch and buyers," said Chandrasen Pawar, Nayab Tehsildar of Panvel.

"We will finish the inquiry and recommend for both the deals to be scrapped. There is no doubt that the deals are in violation of the law," said a senior revenue department's official.

When Mumbai Mirror contacted Harbhans Singh, he said, "I had no idea of any such law. The deal was cleared by the then Tehsildar and even our name is on 7/12 extracts. I have paid the entire value of the plot to the village and I should not be blamed."

Several attempts to get in touch with Salman and his father Salim Khan, who manages the actor's property matters, did not yield any results.

Meanwhile both Khan and Singh have started work on their plots. A trip to the village revealed that they were constructing compound walls to demarcate their properties.

Success gone into Tapasee's head!

Tapasee was introduced to Telugu film industry by Lakshmi Manchu with Jhummandi Naadam. Though, the movie failed to impress the audience, it earned her a rave reviews for her performance and fetched her a lot of movies. She also gave a few hits likeMr.Perfect in Telugu and Aadukalam in Tamil. But it seems like this has gone into her head, as she has reportedly snubbed Lakshmi.

Industry insiders say that Tapasee signed an exclusive four-film contract with Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Movies and featured in two flops Jhummandi Naadamand Vasthadu Naa Raju. Now, Lakshmi Manchu has started her next film with Manchu Vishnu in the lead and has approached the actress to pair up her brother in her home production film. But the Mr.Perfect actress has reportedly declined her offer, which has irked the producer.

Meanwhile, Lakshmi Manchu has seek the Film Chamber and the Movie Artistes Association's intervention to resolve the issue but as the actress is not a member of the association, it has refused to act against her.

Aishwarya has no time to rest

No rest till ever rest for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She has no time for rest, as she has to find time for her hubby Abhishek Bachchan and shoot commercials besides shooting films. It is said that she even cancels her weekend off to complete her shooting commitments.

After walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya flew to Russia to be with her husband Abhishek, who has been shooting there forPlayers. She then flew back to India the other day. Despite reaching home late at night, she went for the shooting of a commercial early next morning.

Here is one actress who knows how to keep a balance between her work and family!

Vijay ushers in golden era

Vijay who entered politics for the first time, opened up about his jubiliation which he shared with the members of his Makkal Narpani Iyakkam members recently. The star invited the thousands of office bearers of his fans association and treated them to a feast on Saturday at the Sangeetha Kalyana Mandap. Vijay said, “I take this opportunity to thank all my fans who worked for the victory of the party and played their part in restoring the ‘golden era’ back in Tamil Nadu. I am really proud of you. With our social work activities, what started as a fans welfare association has become a huge movement today. Keep up your good work and strengthen Amma’s hands.”
With Vijay’s Narpani Iyakkam rallying around him, apparently the actor has given the CM, strong assurances of support which she can be assured of even in the future.

KOLLYWOOD CUTIES WHO WON OUR HEARTS WITH A SONG - THURSDAY TRIVIA

Some of the prettiest women in the country have been a part of Tamil movies and they have sent the hearts of men across the state aflutter with a flutter of suspiciously long lashes or a saucy twirl of their hips in songs choreographed with the express aim of showcasing their assets to maximum advantage. Who can forget Sridevi in Sendhura Poovae from 16 Vayathinilae or Kushboo in the Aracha Sandanam number from Chinna Thambi? Director Shankar paid a towering tribute to Aishwarya Rai’s beauty in the Adhisayam song from Jeans where her beauty if not her acting skills was declared as the eighth wonder of the world.

Most of the heroines nowadays like Asin, Anushka, Tamannah, Shriya and Kajal Agarwal have at least one song to their credit with a moony-eyed hero following them around gushing about their great beauty. But there are only four Kollywood cuties who won our hearts with a song.

Nayanthara: The babe from Kerala made an impact with films like Chandramukhi and Aiyaa. Chubby and gauche, she was still adorable. But thorough professional that she is, she lost the lard, got herself a spanking makeover and exponentially raised her oomph factor. The Engeyo Partha Mayakkam song in Yaaradi Nee Mohini with Dhanush, captured her new avatar perfectly.

Dhanush follows her around looking absolutely smitten while she runs around doing inane things but looking positively good enough to eat in a pretty white salwar. Not just the hero but every male member in the audience was mesmerized.

Trisha: The former Miss Chennai has always scored high on the cuteness quotient. But few film-makers have captured her strangely cherubic yet cheekily sexy quality the way Gautam Menon did in VTV. The Hosanna track as well as the Anbil Avan number had the camera following her around worshipfully, while she looked her adorable best in elegant saris and flowing skirts. Little wonder that Karthik (played to perfection by Simbhu) fell head over heels in love with her despite her being so crazy.

Sameera Reddy: It is no secret that the men in these parts have a thing for women from Bollywood. But even so, very few North Indian imports have achieved what Sameera Reddy did with a single song in Vaaranam Aayiram. The soulful Nenjukul Peidhidum Maamazhai composed by Suriya on the spot in a flash of inspiration when he sees her in a train enumerates her attributes in the most poetic way imaginable.

The newly ordained lover fantasizes about his girl who is draped in a gorgeous green sari and looking like a vision. Sameera Reddy portrayed the sari-clad beauty like never before and won herself a legion of fans.

Anuya: The Siva Manasula Sakthi hottie made strutting around in hot pants and cute little tops an art form. Jiiva croons Eppadiyo Maatikitten dazedly and we can totally understand his irresistible attraction for her despite their tendency to irritate the hell out of each other

Jayalalitha for Velayudham audio launch?

Vijay’s Velayudham directed by Jayam Raja is to have a grand audio launch soon. It has been murmured that CM, Jayalalitha will be the guest of honor at the function. However, since it will not be possible for her to accommodate the audio launch in the midst of her hectic schedule, she has given her blessings to the cast and crew to go ahead without her, assuring them of her best wishes.
Music is by Vijay Antony and he has composed five songs, which the makers are convinced will be chartbusters and a treat for Vijay's fans as word is that he has danced like never before. The film also has Genelia, Hansika, and Saranya Mohan in key roles. A star-studded music launch is expected to happen soon.

Director Sundar C in critical stage

Our director-actor Sundar C is now doing the film with the leading heroine Sneha and Sindhu Thulani. He is remaking the Super star Rajinikanth’s ‘Murattukkali’ film. Where the film shooting is shot at ‘Thenkasi’. Where in this film Rekla race scene was filmed in ‘Sundarapandiyapuram’ in ‘Thenkasi’.
When the shooting of the film is progressing there is a scene where Sundar.C is riding a Rekla cart suddenly it went out of the control and the director hit the soil hurting his legs, with burden on his arms. He was immediately admitted in the nearby hospital and as per the doctor consult Sundar C asks to take rest and he stayed at the resorts nearby ‘Kutralam’. The news was immediately intimated to actress Kushboo where wife of director Sundar C. Then the actor reported that shooting will resume in one or two days.

Bhavana to pair with Vijay

There is news that Bhavana will pair with Vijay in the film titled Pagalavan. Vijay is currently acting in Velayudham and Nanban. Seeman who had earlier directed in films like Panchalakuruchi, Iniyavale, Thambi and Valthukkal is now directing a film titled Pagalavan after a long gap.

The shooting of this film should have commenced last year itself. But Seeman was arrested for his alleged inflammatory speech at meeting in Chennai. After coming out of prison, Seeman met Vijay and spoke about Pagalavan. Vijay also agreed. But because of the assembly elections, the shooting of the film was once again postponed.

Pooja becomes Princess now

Pooja never meant to take up acting as her profession as she openly confessed that it is more like a hobby for her. But her commendable performance in ‘Naan Kadavul’ kept everyone singing praises of her. However, the actress kept refusing offers from the Tamil film industry and it was revealed that the actress will soon enter wedlock. But Pooja refused them as baseless rumors and said that she is taking care of her father’s business.
The latest we hear about Pooja is that she has signed a big-budgeted Sri Lankan movie titled as ‘Kusa Baba’. Touted to be a period film, the film has female lead character as a princess.
On signing new Tamil projects, Pooja says that she is holding discussions and will soon make announcements.

Rajinikanth in ICU again

Superstar Rajinikanth, who is admitted at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, is in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) again. But the actor's condition is stable and he is on the way to recovery.

Rajini left to Singapore on Friday evening along with his family for further treatment and relaxation. A leading news channel reported that his son-in-law has told the channel that his health is stable. But the hospital sources have denied to reveal the details about Rajinikanth's health citing privacy reasons.

However, the 61-year-old actor left a short audio clip for the media and his fans. He said, “I am happily going about my routine. I will return as early as possible. How can I reciprocate the love you have shown for me? I get to act, for that you are showering so much love. How I will pay you all back?”

“I will conduct myself in such a way that I will never let down my fans across the world. I have God’s blessings and the blessings of the guru. Above all, I have the blessing of all my fans who are the manifestation of God,” he further elaborated in his one-minute message.

Before leaving India, Latha Rajinikanth said, “We will be travelling along with the Superstar to Singapore for treatment and rejuvenation. Please don’t believe in any unreal rumours.” She also thanked the supestars’ fans and well-wishers for their prayers for Rajini’s speedy recovery.

Kangana Ranaut angry with Asin!

It looks like catfight will never stop in Bollywood owing to cut-throat competition among the young actresses. But this time, it’s not competition but ‘foul mouth’ that has made Kangana Ranaut and Asin Thotumkal sworn enemies. It is said that the former is angry with the latter for spreading false stories about her and actor Salman Khan.

Rumours are doing the rounds that Kangana and Salman are more than just good friends. And Kangana thinks that Asin, who is also close to the actor, is responsible for spreading false stories about them. She thinks that the Ready heroine is trying to break their friendship by creating her own imaginative stories.

Well, we don’t know if Kangana’s allegations are true but the fact is that she has been bonding with Salman like never before. She can’t deny that!

Hrithik gets too dirty with Katrina

Nobody will expect Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif to get dirty, but they did the unexpected for a song in Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. In fact, the scene involving the duo turned too dirty that the makers of the film were forced to change the song.

Hrithik and Katrina played with tomatoes for the particular song and it was picturised in Spain to depict the Tomatino festival. Surprisingly, the duo ended up getting too messy with tomatoes. They couldn't believe their eyes on seeing the rushes of the film and requested the director to edit out some portions, as it could be misconstrued.

The makers of the film gave in to their request and changed the song. They have toned down the scenes on the duo by adding scenes of Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol, who also act in the film.
