KOLLYWOOD CUTIES WHO WON OUR HEARTS WITH A SONG - THURSDAY TRIVIA

Some of the prettiest women in the country have been a part of Tamil movies and they have sent the hearts of men across the state aflutter with a flutter of suspiciously long lashes or a saucy twirl of their hips in songs choreographed with the express aim of showcasing their assets to maximum advantage. Who can forget Sridevi in Sendhura Poovae from 16 Vayathinilae or Kushboo in the Aracha Sandanam number from Chinna Thambi? Director Shankar paid a towering tribute to Aishwarya Rai’s beauty in the Adhisayam song from Jeans where her beauty if not her acting skills was declared as the eighth wonder of the world.

Most of the heroines nowadays like Asin, Anushka, Tamannah, Shriya and Kajal Agarwal have at least one song to their credit with a moony-eyed hero following them around gushing about their great beauty. But there are only four Kollywood cuties who won our hearts with a song.

Nayanthara: The babe from Kerala made an impact with films like Chandramukhi and Aiyaa. Chubby and gauche, she was still adorable. But thorough professional that she is, she lost the lard, got herself a spanking makeover and exponentially raised her oomph factor. The Engeyo Partha Mayakkam song in Yaaradi Nee Mohini with Dhanush, captured her new avatar perfectly.

Dhanush follows her around looking absolutely smitten while she runs around doing inane things but looking positively good enough to eat in a pretty white salwar. Not just the hero but every male member in the audience was mesmerized.

Trisha: The former Miss Chennai has always scored high on the cuteness quotient. But few film-makers have captured her strangely cherubic yet cheekily sexy quality the way Gautam Menon did in VTV. The Hosanna track as well as the Anbil Avan number had the camera following her around worshipfully, while she looked her adorable best in elegant saris and flowing skirts. Little wonder that Karthik (played to perfection by Simbhu) fell head over heels in love with her despite her being so crazy.

Sameera Reddy: It is no secret that the men in these parts have a thing for women from Bollywood. But even so, very few North Indian imports have achieved what Sameera Reddy did with a single song in Vaaranam Aayiram. The soulful Nenjukul Peidhidum Maamazhai composed by Suriya on the spot in a flash of inspiration when he sees her in a train enumerates her attributes in the most poetic way imaginable.

The newly ordained lover fantasizes about his girl who is draped in a gorgeous green sari and looking like a vision. Sameera Reddy portrayed the sari-clad beauty like never before and won herself a legion of fans.

Anuya: The Siva Manasula Sakthi hottie made strutting around in hot pants and cute little tops an art form. Jiiva croons Eppadiyo Maatikitten dazedly and we can totally understand his irresistible attraction for her despite their tendency to irritate the hell out of each other
